About this grant

The Youth Guarantee is the state system of support for people aged 16–29 who are neither studying nor working. Registration is free and afterwards you are offered courses, job-search guidance, traineeships, mobility programmes in Europe and vacancies. It also opens access to regional youth programmes, such as the driving-licence aid in Asturias.

You need Spanish, EU/EEA/Swiss nationality (with free movement) or residence and a work permit, registration in Spain, to be over 16 and under 30 and not to have worked or studied on the previous calendar day (the wording on the page is ambiguous). There is no selection and offers are matched to your profile.

Steps

  1. 1

Check the conditions: Spanish, EU/EEA/Swiss nationality (exercising free movement) or a residence permit allowing work; registered residence in Spain; over 16 and under 30.

  2. 2

Make sure that on the previous calendar day you were neither working nor receiving education: while you are in Bachillerato you cannot register, it becomes possible after you finish studies.

  3. 3

Prepare identification: Cl@ve, an electronic certificate or a username and password, an active mobile phone and an email. A DNI or NIE is needed.

  4. 4

Open garantiajuvenil.sepe.es, activate an account and fill in the online form: a statement of interest in taking part and a commitment to participate actively in the actions.

  5. 5

If you have no electronic ID, register at any chamber of commerce: you will need your DNI or NIE.

  6. 6

After registering, watch for offers: courses, job guidance, placements, mobility programmes and jobs; registration is also needed for regional programmes (for example licence aid in Asturias).

What exactly to submit

Documents and materials to attach to the application.

  • A DNI or NIE
  • Electronic identification (Cl@ve, certificate or username and password)
  • An active mobile phone and an email
  • Proof of registered residence in Spain

Example

Example (written by us): Ana finished Bachillerato in summer 2027 and has not started full-time study. In September she registers with Cl@ve at garantiajuvenil.sepe.es, receives an offer for a digital-skills course and keeps her place in the system for regional grants.

An example we wrote to illustrate: it is not an official sample, replace the details with your own.

How applicants are chosen

There is no selection: registration is open to anyone who meets the conditions; offers are matched to your profile.

What happens after you apply

Registration is free. By your profile you are offered courses, guidance, placements, mobility programmes and jobs, and told about hiring incentives for registered young people. Being registered gives access to regional programmes tied to the Youth Guarantee.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to register while you are in Bachillerato: the condition is no education the previous day
  • Thinking it is a benefit: the system offers jobs, courses and placements, not money
  • Having no DNI/NIE or electronic ID: in that case go to a chamber of commerce
  • Forgetting to register early if a regional programme requires membership on the publication date

Tips

  • We haven't re-checked the conditions by hand yet: compare amounts and deadlines with the official page before applying.

Guide checked against the official pages: 9 October 2026. Guide written from official sources. Details may change: check them on the application page.
